We met Patrick and our local guide at the Louvre which is housed in a 16th century palace on Wednesday evening when it's open later and less crowded. Having a local guide made the few hours spent there more rewarding.
We started out in the basement which might seem a bit strange but these are the foundations and moat of Philippe August's castle.
