In hindsight we wandered farther than we should have because later we got caught in some serious, blowing rain. However, we had a wonderful day and spent about an hour's soggy ride back to Paris. By now, we've been riding the Metro all week so we're pretty comfortable on our own.

Talk about over the top elegance and splendor! Originally built by the Sun King (Louis XIV), he turned his dad's hunting lodge into the palace Versailles.

Our guided tour was first thing in the morning and then plenty of time to wander and return to Paris on our own.

Marie Antoinette loved some aspects of the simple life and her hamlet is a bit different from the palace!
